Influenster Mary Kay Sun-Kissed #MKGlam VoxBox

I was so excited to get chosen for this box. I have never tried Mary Kay products. I love trying out new makeup, but I don't always have the money to go out and purchase products. I'm thankful for programs like Influenster that can give me and other beauty product lovers a chance to test out new stuff for free. The Mary Kay box included nine items. For more information about each product or to purchase one for yourself, click the link under the product photo.

Mary Kay® Cream Eye Color in Apricot Twist

I didn't really care for the cream eye color. The color barely showed up on my skin tone and it's not a color I would typically wear. I understand why they included this color, but I would have loved to try out one of the other colors instead. I could have managed to work with the color on future eye looks if it didn't also look drying on my eye lids. I'm not sure if that's an issue with the formula overall or just this color. I have tried other cream eye colors that I like that are less expensive so I would not purchase this in other colors at $14 a pop.
Mary Kay® Gel Eyeliner with Expandable Brush Applicator in Jet Black

I liked the gel eyeliner. I am not sure what I did with the brush so that's why it's missing from the picture. I used one of my E.L.F. brushes to apply it to my upper lash line. Although I own a couple gel eyeliners from other brands, this was my first experience with using it. I really like how creamy it was and it glided on so easily. I love how pigmented it is and it seemed to have staying power. I do set all eyeliner regardless of brand/type with a black/dark eyeshadow. While I'm not sure that I would repurchase at the $18 price tag, it did help me feel more comfortable using a gel eyeliner. I would definitely recommend this product.

The powder brush appeared to be a bonus item as it wasn't listed on the information card. I did not use this brush because I didn't like how it felt on hands even after washing. It is not soft. It feels scratchy. I expected better quality for a $18 brush.

I had no issues with the cream eye color brush. It worked fine for applying the cream eye color and is a nice addition to my brush collection. Although I like this brush, I would not repurchase it at the $10 price point.

This lip gloss was sticky and had a slight fruity scent. The formula didn't really entice me to want to purchase other colors. Mango Tango is an orange-red color with shimmer and not a color I would ever buy for myself. Since it can go on sheer, I was able to make it work and get a lip look that I didn't completely hate. This lip gloss is available in several shades at $14.

I've used translucent loose powders before so I was very familiar with this type of product. It's pretty similar to the ones I have from other brands so I don't think I would repurchase this one for $16. I do like it and it did deliver what the product promises - Feels weightless, natural and velvety soft on skin, Provides a sheer, invisible finish. I love that the sifter can be locked to help prevent a mess. I would recommend this product as well.

Now I usually hate mascaras with this type of wand, but I loved this one. This was my favorite item in the box. I liked the formula and how it applied. I loved the look of my lashes after using this mascara. I would be willing to purchase this at the $15 price as I feel it's worth it. The name is perfect as I had lash love after using it.

Mary Kay® Bronzing Powder
Mary Kay® Mineral Cheek Color

I don't use blush or bronzer so I didn't try out these products and was not able to give to someone else to try prior to this blog post.

For my look I used these additional products:
Wet n Wild 8 pan flirting at the after party
Wet n Wild balm stain in the nude shade
Too Faced natural eye palette
Maybelline BB cream
NYX eyebrow powder
NYX concealer
NYC velvet eye pencil
LA Fresh makeup remover wipes

Review: Boots Botanics Ionic Clay Mask #powerofplants

I received a travel size of the Boots Botanics ionic clay mask in my Influenster J'Adore VoxBox. You can read about it here. The first picture shows you the product and the a general idea of the size.

This product is runny, but applies very easy. It's similar to a sheer coverage bb cream consistency. It is an olive green color. It does not smell bad or have an overpowering scent.

Before applying I made sure my face was clean then applied the mask liberally all over my face being sure to avoid my eyes and mouth.

It dried super fast which is a plus. As it dried the color changed to a lighter shade and my face felt stiff. I left it on for 10 minutes as stated in the directions. Here is a close up of the mask as it was drying.

After I washed the mask off, I noticed that my face was extremely red and then it started to burn slightly. My face also felt very tight and dry. This was my first experience using a face mask so I wasn't sure what to expect or if this was a normal experience. I have sensitive, dry skin so this product may not be best suited for my skin type. The pictures below attempt to show the redness that occurred. My face is naturally red in the cheeks but not on my forehead or next to my eyes.

I am not sure that I will continue using this product.

Influenster J'Adore VoxBox

Last month I received my fourth VoxBox. It was packed full of goodies that I couldn't wait to try out.
  1. Family Size bag of Hershey's Kisses
  2. Four Red Rose teabags
  3. Travel Size of John Frieda Frizz Ease 3 day straight flat iron spray
  4. Full size can of Vaseline Men spray lotion
  5. Pair of Kiss lashes
  6. Travel size of Boots Botanics ionic clay mask
The Hershey Kisses didn't last long with two kids in the house. I can honestly say they were immensely enjoyed by my daughters.

I am a fan of Red Rose tea, but not flavored teas so I didn't try out the flavors included in the box. I will be passing those onto my mom as she is an avid tea drinker.

I'm no stranger to straightening my hair with a flat iron and using heat protector sprays. I was was excited to try out a new one, especially one that is cheaper than the one I currently use. The John Frieda 3 day straight flat iron spray has a nice scent and isn't sticky. It made hair look healthy and shiny after straightening. http://instagram.com/p/lq07CLwzU1/

I have gotten a Vaseline spray lotion in a previous voxbox and my husband really liked it. He was happy to try out the Vaseline Men spray lotion. He loved how easy it was to apply and how quick it absorbed. He enjoyed the scent too. He now prefers spray lotions to regular lotions so we will for sure be buying more of this. http://instagram.com/p/lqSj6QwzUA/

I've never worn fake eye lashes before, but have been very interested in doing so. My eyelashes are barely noticeable and mascara only helps so much for me. I was surprised at how easy Kiss natural lashes were to apply and how comfortable they felt. I am going to make more of an effort to add lashes into my beauty routine. I love the look of them.

I've never tried out a face mask before so it was a new and weird experience. I'm going to have to wait to see how my skin reacts to the product before deciding if I will continue using the Boots Botanics ionic clay mask. It left my face very tight, dry, and red. The product is runny, but dries fast. It has no overpowering smell which is also a plus. http://instagram.com/p/lqoBDZQzTw/
