I received a KISS Instawave through BrandBacker to review. It can be purchased at    for $59.99. It's been years since I've curled by hair so it was a little bit awkward at first. The more I played around with tool, the easier it became. I think the automatic curler would help eliminate burnt fingers that you would experience from other clipless wands. It produces beautiful curls quickly with hardly any effort. I've listed all the features with detailed pictures below. I have also included a demo video so you can see me using the KISS Instawave and see the results.

Makeup by One Direction Kits

One Direction has come out with some fun new makeup kits. BrandBacker sent me sets to review. They can be purchased at Macy's, Dillards, Boscov's, Stage Stores, Beauty Brands, and Lord & Taylor.

The first kit is colored mascara for lashes and hair. These would be lots of fun for a party or Halloween. It was super easy to apply and shows up great on dark hair.

The second set contains three nail polishes and glitter. The glitter is very fine so could possibly be  used to create stunning eye looks or give your body an all over shimmer. The multicolored one would be great for New Year's Eve. I am in love with the silver glitter nail polish. It's so pretty and I will for sure be rockin' it this holiday season. I applied one coat of it to my nail so you could see how pretty it is. It would add that extra pop to any color and also work great for an accent nail. Both the nail polish and glitter are UV reactive.

Nail Varnish:

The third set has three glittery lip glosses that at are UV reactive. They are nicely pigmented plus super fun to wear. They are very shimmery and look beautiful alone, but could jazz up any lipstick or lip balm to make your look more glamorous. All three shades are very wearable. I don't have a UV light to show you how they look when glowing.

Makeup by One Direction Limited Edition Beauty Collection

One Direction has come out with some new makeup just in time for the holidays. BrandBacker sent me 3 sets for review. Each set has the same products, just a different band member on the front. You can purchase these sets at Sears USA, Kmart, Target, and Walmart Canada.

The set comes with 6 eye shadows, 4 pan lip glosses, 1 eyeliner, 1 glitter lip gloss, 2 mini nail polishes, and 2 application tools. I feel like they should have included a mascara and blush to complete the palette, but the pan lip glosses could possible double as blushes/highlighters.

The lip glosses go on smoothly, but the goldish color seems to be a different formula. I hit pan on it just by doing swatches. They are pretty nice and surprisingly more pigmented than I expected. They are all very pretty, wearable shades. The hand swatches are shown in natural daylight. The lip swatches are shown with flash.

Lip Gloss:

Loved You First- Bubble gum pink
One Thing- Frosted pink ice
Irresistible- Shimmered pearl
Heart Attack- Creamy rose shine

Lip Gloss Top Coat:
Over Again- Silver glitter sparkle

I wasn't impressed with the eyeliner. It isn't pigmented as you can see with my initial stroke. I had to really build it and even then it's not black enough for my preference. It did however glide on smoothly without tugging.

The eye shadows weren't too bad. The metallic colors were more pigmented and creamy feeling. The swatch is one swipe! I really like them and think they are gorgeous shades. The other three need to be built up to get some color payoff and would definitely need a base or primer. The swatches are shown in natural daylight. Be careful if you try to remove the eye shadows as I broke when attempting to do that. That revealed that the metallic was only on top so that was a little disappointing. 

Eye Shadows:

I found the nail polish hard to apply because it was a jelly glitter consistency. I think my nails still came out nice looking and it's a very pretty color. I feel as though the glitter top coat would look better over white and is perfect for holiday nail designs. It reminds of multi-colored Christmas lights.

Overall I think it is a great set for a One Direction fan or someone new to makeup. I'm giving the other two sets I received to my daughters for Christmas. They love makeup and will be so excited to get a set like this of their own.

Fortune Cookie Soap Winter Box 2014 Old Fashioned Family Christmas

Fortune Cookie Soap offers a seasonal quarterly box for $19.99. These ship in February, May, August, and November. They also include a coupon code for $10 so that's like paying $9.99 for your box! This year's winter box is inspired by National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and is call Old Fashioned Family Christmas. These items will be available for purchase in full size on November 21st at 6 PM CDT. The scents will be sold in various products. The pictures below show you how the box arrives. Please note I purchased two boxes. Each box contains 8 items. Now let's get to what's inside! I've taken the pictures of me holding the items so you can get an idea on sizes.

The first item is the fortune cookie soap and comes in every box. The scent is called 'Tis the Season to be Mary and is described as sweet almond  and tobacco. To me it just smells like soap. So if you prefer to just smell clean, this may be the scent for you. The one you get in the box will be the same size you get if you order one online. They are around $3 each. Price varies based on how they decorated and/or colored.

The OCD hand sanitizer is another product that's in every box and is considered full size. They do however now offer a larger size on the website. The smaller size is $2.89. The OCD is called Mele Kelekimaka as is described as tropical spiced rum, Tahitian vanilla, jasmine petals, and twisted woods. It reminds of a fruity cocktail that you would order at a bar while on vacation. It smells very tropical and reminds more of a summer scent. 

The shower steamers are great for those of you without a bath tub. The one in the box is considered full size, but when you buy them you will get a set of 3 individually wrapped for $5.99. The scent  is called I Pledge Allegiance, Amen! and is described as a blend of blue spruce and balsam fir with fresh mint and garden herbs. All I get from this is mint, and strong mint at that. It would probably be a really good one if you were sick or needed a wake up in your morning shower. 

I was really excited to finally try out a cuticle butter and so happy that I loved this scent. It's called Moose Mug and is a blend of rich cream, egg, and nutmeg. It smells so yummy and feels so nice on my hands. This is a scent that I will be getting other items in. It's a very sweet scent so if that's your thing you will love this too. I think it's a good choice for a holiday scent. From what others have posted, this is thought to be full size.

Another product that I was interested in trying was the hydrate me. You use this like a lotion, but while you are still in the shower. You apply it to wet skin, but don't rinse off. I really liked the scent and felt it was perfect for the season. Some people felt it was similar to fall scent at Bath and Body Works. It's called Sparky and is described as vanilla pumpkin waffles topped with brown sugar, pecans, and whipped cream. It smells as yummy as it sounds. Plus they made them look like cute christmas lights! One lucky person will find a black bulb and win a $50 gift card. Regular size hydrate me sell for $9.99. 

Every box contains a product they are well know for, the whipped creams. As with the fall box, you could get 1 of 4 scents. I got Bend Over & I'll Show you which is tart cranberry, crisp pine, herbal spruce, clove, and sweet mandarin orange. It smells like fruity pine just as you would expect. I'm just not into pine or tree scents. My other box had Squirrel which is apples, strawberries, plums, orange, and lime. Sadly, I didn't really care for this either. I'm not into apple scents either, but others felt this was another dupe for a Bath and Body Works scent from the winter line. The other scents are Jello Surprise and Jelly of the Month. These whipped creams are mini size and can be purchased in sets of 4 for $12.99. You can also pick up a large size for $10.99.

The winter box contained two brand new items! The first is a whipped soap. It's called Fried Pussycat and is described as plum, whipped caramel, bourbon vanilla, and jasmine blossoms. It smells like a faint fruity soap, like a body wash I would pick up at the drugstore. I was really hoping for a much sweeter scent, but it's still a nice clean soap smell. The whipped soap settled during shipping so many people got almost empty containers. The company is working on fixing this before the launch. 

The other new product and last one in the box is the deep conditioner. I would have loved to try this, but I don't like the scent. It's called Christmas Bonus and the description is kept secret. If you can guess the scent you win a $50 gift card. I won't post my thoughts on what it smells like other than what I've already said.

The One Direction Limited Edition Collections have launched. These collections were created by Markwins which also created Wet 'N Wild and Physician's Formula.  There are three collections available and the one I got is Take Me Home. They each come in a collector's tin and contain the same products in different colors. You can purchase the collections at Macy's and Dilliard's.

The lipstick in this collection is called Last First Kiss. It's a sheer pink color. It goes on the lips nicely and doesn't feel drying. I have swatched it on my lips for you.

The lip gloss is called Kiss You. It's a glittery orange color. It isn't this bright once you put it on though. It's actually quite pretty. Plus, there is something super cool about this lip gloss. It glows under UV light. This would be fun to wear to a One Direction concert, a night at the club, or a Halloween party. I'm sorry that I can not show you a swatch on my lips, but something in it irritates my lips. I haven't seen any other reviewers have this issue, so it most likely won't be a problem for you.

Next up is this eye and body crayon. It's a chocolate brown color called I Wish. You can use it as an eyeliner, eyeshadow base, or on your body with the enclosed stencils. It's creamy and glides on very nice. It has nice pigmentation too. I love eye crayons because of their multiple uses.

I love the packaging on the eye shadow palette. There are four shadows and one creme glitter. The names of these are (left to right in finger swatch) Little Things, C'mon C'mon, Change My Mind, Back For You, and Take Me Home. They aren't very pigmented, but using a white base or the eye crayon in the collection as a base will help intensify the colors. My favorite is the shimmery peach color. The lightest color was powdery, but it is listed as a velvet creme.

The mascara is black and called  Little Black Dress. It is described as a volumizing mascara. It was okay. I prefer a fatter wand since my eyelashes are very sparse.

Here are the products used on my eye. They create a very pretty look. It would be fun to incorporate some other colors into this look as well.

Last, but probably my favorite is the glitter nail polish called  Live While We're Young. I love glitter nail polish and this one is a perfect one for fall. Look beautiful alone or as a top coat.
